Plain Lavender: Book Cover Design

Duration: 3 days

Plain Lavender is the second book published by author G Jayashankar Menon. It is a collection of about 30 poems that display the vibrant personality of the poet and would make for ardent reading. The style of writing is essentially free verse, appealing to the present-day reader who has little time to get into the depths of emotions, inner innuendos and intentions or inferences. The quality of poetry can be plain, and each title contains lines that don't run too long to make the reader tired at the end of the day.

The thought behind the cover was seeing as water and bridges were a commonly mentioned feature throughout the book it seemed fitting to showcase both elements front and centre.

Also the imagery of a bridge has a number of metaphorical interpretations such as crossing over or a path to something new which would catch the reader's attention.

The winding river that follows plays a dual purpose of first being a river for what it actually is but can also be seen as a path or route of travel.

The choice of colours was kept keeping the book's title Plain Lavender in mind, re-enforcing it's name.

Plain Lavender can now be bought on Amazon India
