The Yellow Dwelling: Meadows of Wildflower

The Yellow Dwelling’s journey began with a search for quality home furnishings that are unique, tasteful yet affordable. The brand’s motto is to create happy homes where style and comfort meets their customers through sustainable and eco-friendly products as well as in their manufacturing practices.

For the Summer Collection 2020, our inspiration was looking at a secret garden where mystery awaited and small joys were experienced in the littlest of appearances.

It was very important for us to showcase how pattern on pattern combinations could work making bold yet elegant homes. Botany charts on herbs and insects were great influencers for the direction taken in the curation of the collection. The collection attempted to cater to various customer needs and styles while still keeping in mind that each piece designed must work seamlessly with the next. The products created included a range of throw cushions in various sizes, curtains, tableware and bedding options. The new products launched were fitted sheets and blankets.

Even when it came to the finishing details in the products we chose to work with jute fringe or crochet lace trims rather than the overdone pom-poms.

The Yellow Dwelling: Christmas 2021

On picturing the perfect Christmas one thinks of being snuggled in a warm blanket, the tree glistening with perfectly hung lights, a hot beverage in hand and most importantly being surrounded by family and friends are the quintessential pillars to the holiday season. Our Christmas Collection 2021 embodies this cosy ambience both in its prints, accessories and fabrics. With a mix of embroidered cushions, to gold piping, metallic prints, red tassels, pairing geometrics like tartans and of course soft throws, the collection promises to cater to every style of Christmas home this year.

The concept of Hygge; defined as a quality of cosiness and comfort coming together as one to create a feeling of contentment and well-being, these were the jumping off point while designing and conceptualizing this collection. Elements synonymous with Christmas like Christmas trees, snowmen, holly and snowflakes have been represented through the collection but with a Scandinavian twist. Minimalism with cosiness. Our Hygge cushion and Winter Tea showcase this concept effectively.

The collection comprises of the familiar cherry reds we have all come to expect with a Christmas collection while also incorporating golds and ice blues with beiges for the white Christmas lovers. Texture has been a concept we as a brand have been exploring through our collections and a few ways that we have used texture to highlight a product has been with our Bow cushion. A large bow enveloping the cushion almost like a soft gift wrapped present on your sofa.

This holiday season make the time for a family dinner, cherish the moments together and for that we have curated the ultimate dinning collection. We’ve curated a range of table cloths from printed to plain dyed fabrics for any table size, table runners with lace edging and embroidered details of holly berries, placemats with tiny pockets to store your silverware in to woven grass mats and napkins with a contrasting coloured blanket stitch edge detailing.

Christmas would not be complete without decorating one’s Christmas tree and to do so one needs baubles. This year we have designed the most intricately handmade macramé Christmas baubles. Make with the softest macramé cords and bleached wood accessories these baubles are minimal, Scandinavian and adorable. While showcased as tree ornaments the sky is the limit with its usage. We have used them as napkin rings, curtain tiebacks or even shelf styling elements.

The Yellow Dwelling: Oasis

The Oasis collection by The Yellow Dwelling, when being conceptualised was heavily inspired from the spice markets to the intricately carved architecture in Morocco this collection takes a contemporary twist from this region. A fresh palette of pastel mints, blues, blush pinks and yellows dusted with metallic golds are a signature feature.

The collection also comprises of textural pieces like Ari work cushions along with fringed cushions. Texture brings with it another added dimension than colours would to a space, so it was crucial to bring in these tactile pieces into the collection.

Another new concept that has been looked into has been pairing dyed fabrics with printed patterns. A new dye technique called “Cloud dying” has been used for bed linens and is paired with intricately hand illustrated printed quilts. This is yet another juxtaposing concept bring introduced with Oasis.

For the Oasis collection, we explored the technique of tie dye in our bedding range. The fluid and organic form of this technique evokes tranquility and peacefulness.  The organic form of cloud dyeing pairs effortlessly well with the structured patterned quilts from our collection.
